Year 6 Award

We’ve had another busy week in year 6 with lots of the children receiving nominations for the Rory Award. This week we had two winners. Well done! Tom R and Jamie for winning your individual swimming races. It’s great having two Maghull & District swimming champions. You were both brilliant.

Cycle Training

Well done to the cycling group on passing your cycling proficiency test. We were really proud of you all. Thanks also to the instructors for all their hard work and support during the week.

Rory Award

Apologies to Erin who was last week’s winner and didn’t get a mention. All of the boys and girls worked really hard during SAT’s week and all deserved to be nominated. The award went to Erin as it was her birthday during the week and she had to delay her celebrations.

Swimming Gala

Great news!! The children were absolutely brilliant, last night. We had a representative in every final and all of the team won at least one medal.
Erin and Tom were proud captains as they led the team around the pool after we were declared ’small school shield’ winners. We were so proud.

Also well done to the members of Year 5 & 6 who were in the squad for trials. Your hard work was really appreciated. A special mention to our reserves - Celina, Oliver and Daniel R.

I can’t wait to receive the date for the Sefton Gala as I’m sure a number of our children will be selected to represent Maghull.

Maghull & District Gala

This event takes place on Thursday night at Crosby Pool. Some of the Year 5 & Year 6 children have been very busy racing each other to get a place in the team. We wish them all the best. Good Luck!

Team for Thursday - Emma, Erin, Abbie, Nicole, Anneli, Tom R, Jamie, Thomas, George & Michael J

Spectators are welcome to come along and cheer Green Park on - gala starts at 6.30. There is a small admission charge.

Cycling

Although the weather was not as nice as yesterday the cyclists enjoyed their training today. The children actually went out on the roads off The Round Meade to prepare for Friday’s test. Some of the group had a busy morning as they also went swimming.(gala practice) We had to laugh as they rushed from one event to another - it was just like doing a triathlon!!

Cycling Week

This week some of our Year 6 children are participating in cycle proficiency training - at least they’ve had lovely weather today. We’ll keep you informed of their progress.

SAT’s - Day 5

Our last day - Maths B (calculator paper). Not a bad paper according to the children but once again quite a lot of shape related questions.

We then had some juice, cake and biscuits to celebrate the end of a busy week. Well done year 6!!

SAT’S - Day 4

Well two maths down - only one test to go!! Today we’ve had Maths A and Mental Maths. The Mental Maths was quite difficult in places - having to work quickly is challenging and quite difficult for some. Paper A wasn’t bad but contained rather a lot of space and shape questions.

Emma - I thought the maths test was quite easy with some hard questions too.

Celina - So far the SAT’s have been fairly easy. Maths was easier than I thought. Some of the answers just came to me!!
