SAT’s - Day 3

Well we’re halfway through the week and we’ve only got Maths to go!! The children have been brilliant especially as many of them are full of cold. There has been lots of coughing, sneezing and snuffling!!

Today we had the Reading paper - the booklet was about Mount Vesuvius and called ‘On Dangerous Ground’ and received mixed responses. However, overall the children thought it was OK!!

Laura- I really enjoyed the paper and it was incredibly fascinating. I thought I had been well trained though as I have been watching “Roman Mysteries” which is all about the erruption of AD 79, I want a photocopy of the booklet!

Sarah- I thought that it was a really interesting subject to have for our reading test. I thoroughly enjoyed the paper.

SAT’s - Day 2

Today we had writing. For our long writing test we had to write a leaflet about the environment. It wasn’t as bad as we had thought. We had to explain how we could help the world around us and persuade people to do something about the earth’s problems.
The short writing task was to produce the beginning of a mystery story. We had to continue on from this sentence: Ali stood silently, looking at the door. With a slow creaking sound, it opened. Taking a deep breath, Ali walked inside…
On the other hand, the spelling was awful!

I couldn’t have put it better myself. The day was better than we thought except for the spellings. Anyway, we’re nearly halfway there - Reading tomorrow so follow the golden rules - plenty of sleep and plenty of water!!

SAT’s Week

At last the dreaded week is here!! Year 6 have been really good today and applied themselves well to both Science papers. There were a couple of tricky questions - I can’t wait to see all the acceptable answers when I am allowed the booklet.

Remember your water bottles tomorrow and come ready for your writing tasks. Have a good night’s sleep and no worrying!!!

Well Done to this week’s winner, Helen. She is always helpful especially with the Reception class and thoroughly deserved her nomination.

High Five Netball Match

After previous cancellations we were pleased that we managed, at last, to arrange a game against another school. The Year 5 / 6 squad have been training really hard and it was a difficult task to select a team to play against Lydiate Primary.
The girls have been really excited today and wanted to know their starting positions. High Five is quite a difficult game to play as the team rotates after each quarter. One minute you’re an attacking player and then a defender - you can forget which way you’re shooting! After an entertaining and very close match we were delighted to win 2-1. Well done, Girls!! I can’t wait to read the match reports.
Team - Anna(Captain), Erin, Emma, Alice, Nicole,Lauren and Celina.

Also a BIG THANK YOU to our supporters.
