The activities of Y6 on the web

Archive for June, 2007

This week

This week has been rather busy (as usual). We have been rehearsing for Oliver and thinking about our assembly as well as carrying out other work. We’ve also celebrated a few birthdays. Thank you to the children who brought sweets in. Next week won’t be any easier. Year 6 have a kit in school - we’ll do PE if we get a chance.
Remember you need to bring in your letter for Deyes High and be looking for costumes. Have a good weekend and learn your song words.
Homework for next week - log and song words.
No scripts should be used in rehearsals next week.

Athletics

Well done to our Year 5 and 6 children who participated today in the Athletics competition. I believe you did very well and I can’t wait to hear all the news on Monday.

Rory Award

Congratulations to Michael L for winning this week’s Rory Award for putting lots of comments on the blog. He can always be relied upon to log on frequently. Thank you, Michael - Well Done!!

Sefton Swimming Gala

We had an exciting time at Crosby pool, last night participating in the Sefton Gala. As usual Southport had a particularly strong team and won the overall event. A BIG WELL DONE to our swimmers - they performed brilliantly. They all reached a final and should be proud of their achievements. I know Mrs Roberts, Mrs Reed and myself were extremely proud of them all - Erin, Thomas, Anneli, Emma, Tom R , George and Jamie. A special mention for our medal winners.
Girls’ Freestyle Relay - 1st place - Anneli
Boy’s Breaststroke - 3rd place - Tom R
Boys’ Medley -3rd place - Tom R & Jamie

Also thank you to our supporters - very loud, as usual and our gala helpers on the night - Mr Reed, Mrs Reed, Mrs Roberts, James R and Jack helped the Gala run smoothly.

Rory Award

Congratulations to Alice who is this weeks winner. Her nomination was for answering the phone politely. Alice was playing in a football tournament so missed our Celebration Assembly. Never mind it will be a nice surprise for her on Monday.(Unless someone has already told her)

Y6 do art at Deyes

What you need to remember

A quick reminder as it was rather a rush tonight.

Swimming kit for Tuesday - include shorts and t-shirt if you are doing the survival award.
Maths homework - five problems involving items from your holiday shopping list. Use a mixture of questions eg. addition, subtraction, discount off using percentages. For Tuesday.

For next week you also need a log and a task.

Enjoy the weekend and we’ll see you Tuesday.

Rory Award

This week’s winner is Anna. Her nomination was given by Miss Blackham for doing extra work as a member of the school council. Congratulations!!
Also a well done to our other two hard working members Celina and Laura.

Make a Comment

Come on Year 6 what’s happened to all of the comments?? For the next two weeks you can have a Rory nomination for making a comment. So get busy!!!!

Blackpool Zoo

We had a great but hot, tiring day at Blackpool Zoo. It was too hot for some of the animals - they stayed hidden in the shade. There was lots to see and do and we’ll get some comments up soon. The monkeys seemed to be most peoples favourites although we were rather envious of the sealions - their pool looked lovely and cool.
Many thanks to our fantastic band of helpers - you were brilliant.
