This week’s winner is Brooke. She included an Egyptian quiz from the book she was reading as part of her task. I was horrified - they were quite unusual questions but at least they were true or false. I had a 1 in 2 chance of being correct. What’s that as a percentage?
Well done Brooke, no wonder Mrs Roberts left the book in my pile - only joking!! Why don’t you have a go……
Pyramids contained everything the king would need in the afterlife………. including a toilet. True / False
The Great Pyramid is made of about 2300000 stone blocks. True / False.

Megan, who goes to school in Wigan - a strange place where the rumour is that everyone who lives there eats pies, left a lovely message on Y6’s blog. Her school is http://wiganstandrews.net/ Maybe some of Y6 could have a look at her teacher’s blog (its fab) and even leave a message.
By the way, see if you can nag Miss Gibson to change the way Y6 blog looks. If you look at the other ones they don’t half look trendy and groovy!

Year 6, Mrs Roberts and Miss Gibson have had a great time today at Bosco City Learning Centre, Liverpool. Unfortunately our bus got lost so we were late leaving Green Park however the event didn’t start until we arrived. After watching part of ‘Charlie’s Choice’ and listening to a brilliant rapper we were split into two groups and did five different workshops during the day. (We didn’t stop!!!)
At the end of the afternoon we watched the rest of the drama, ‘Charlie’s Choice’ and were entertained by the rappers - they were unbelievable.
Each school awarded a prize to a child who had really contributed to the day. We had a very difficult decision as all of our children were so enthusiastic and hard working. However, there had to be a winner…………… well done Sam.
We’ll give more information next week.

Our dance is coming along nicely although it is quite difficult to remember all the moves. We’re having lots of fun and have come up with lots of interesting ideas based on painting. Mrs Treanor videoed our performance this week and we need to set ourselves targets for next Thursday. When we’ve finished we’ll put some photos and video clips on the blog.

Year 6 started their drama work today. Miss Gibson & Mrs Roberts attended a RSC (Royal Shakespeare Company) workshop before Christmas (it was very demanding!!) and our school was one of six chosen to take part in the extended programme. ( That was already decided and had nothing to do with our skills on the day - luckily!! Only joking we were brilliant.)
For 4 weeks a drama practioner, Helen Jackson is working with the children for a 2 hour session. We are working on ‘Macbeth’. After each session we will be working on a linked writing task. This week its a letter to Lady Macbeth from her husband.
Today we played some games, introduced some characters and acted out the battle scene. We also did lots of discussing. Some of the children were given individual roles to play and were GREAT!!! Emma made a super King Duncan with crown and sword. Kyle, Megan D and Penny played the three witches ( great acting) Sean W was Macbeth and Sean R Banquo, his friend. Molly wore a beautiful but very heavy dress as Lady Macbeth. Luckily she had a very helpful lady-in-waiting, Milly. Sam played the part of Ross who delivers a message to Macbeth from the King. Everyone though joined in with enthusiasm. The boys who had been playing football and were held up at the Tournament quickly settled into the work.
Thank you to Helen for a super afternoon and thanks to Mrs Jacquest, one of our school governors for her support.
We were very proud of the children’s effort and attitude and we can’t wait for session 2!

Week 2 was even more tiring than week 1 but the routine is really starting to take shape. Year 6 were brilliant in remembering the changes - Miss Gibson wasn’t!!!
We can’t wait for week 3!! We’re really enjoying working with Mrs Treanor.

We have been reading about different spiders in our Literacy and finding out lots of interesting facts!!! Some of the girls haven’t been too impressed but have been really brave. Keep a look out at home and in the garden - see if you can recognise any you find. Don’t bring them to school though please!!!
