If you’ve got the time please read the following pieces of writing. It’s all about Kingswood. Decorated copies are also displayed in school - if you get the opportunity pop in and have a look.
On the 6th of April Y6 went to Kingswood in Hexham, Northumberland. Even though there was snoring most nights and waking up to Mr. Hewer’s singing wasn’t the nicest thing to wake up to it was still great fun! I enjoyed staying in a different room for two nights. All of the activities we did I had a go at and I enjoyed them all! These are my favourite five activities…
1.Jacobs ladder 10/10
Jacobs Ladder was my favourite activity because it was absolutely hysterical! I kept falling off and started to kick my legs frantically trying to get back on the ladder but not going any where!
2. Den building 10/10
Den building was fantastic I really enjoyed it. We were in teams- boys against girls, we all thought the boys’ Den was going to win but it collapsed at the last minute so we won!
3.Leap of faith 10/10
I was quite anxious over Leap of Faith but once I was climbing the pole I was fine and forgot that it was 40 foot high. The scariest part was when you had to get on to the platform at the top because the pole was wobbling like mad but I still jumped and got hold of the trapeze even though it felt like I had no harness and was going to fall.
4. Zip line 10/10
Zip line was so exciting – I loved it! When I went down it - I screamed YABADABADOOO! It was quite scary before you jumped off the tower onto the zip wire but once you had jumped it felt great. Whilst you were zooming down the Zip wire it felt like you where flying! The funnniest part on the zip wire was when you crashed into the tyre at the end and bounced off.
5. Quads 10/10
Quads where super- surprisingly I never crashed! When I got off the quad bike my legs were all wobbly like jelly and I nearly tripped over. When someone else was on the quad bike we all danced around like lunatics to keep warm!

Our favourite instructor was Kyle Metcalf. He was very funny and handsome! Kyle is 20 years old and has his ear pierced! He also owns a motor-bike so he has a cute jacket to match! When he’d shout…
1.Oi Oi = Michael Jackson (George = is plastic)
2. Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy = Oi Oi Oi
3. Homer Simpson =Doh!
4. Bart Simpson =Eat my shorts
5. Kylie Minogue =I’m spinning around around move out of my way(while spinning around!)
6. Victor Meldrew = I don’t believe it!
7. Churchill =Oh yes
8.Lucy = Its a boy’s name
9.Kyle= It’s a boy’s name and it rules
10.Rory = It’s a brum brum car
11.Disco = D.I.S.C.O
Our favourite activities were:

I really enjoyed all of the holiday and all of the activities but I especially enjoyed Leap of Faith – it was boss!!!!
You had to climb a pole with little wooden stumps on the pole and when you got to the top you had to jump off a small platform and grab on to a trapeze!!!
Another one of my favourites was circus skills, you got to juggle and other things they do in circuses.

My favourite day was when we went to Alnwick Castle and Hadrian’s Wall. Alnwick Castle was outstanding, it was enormous. I also put my hand over Hadrian’s Wall and said that was in Scotland.
My favourite activities were climbing, leap of faith, aeroball and circus skills.
Climbing: You had to climb a 40 foot wall with a harness and a helmet on and kiss the metal bar which as at the top of the wall!!
Leap of Faith: Which was a pole suspended into the ground and you had to climb to the top and get on the platform. While you were climbing the pole was shaking. I got to the top and jumped on to the trapeze.
Aeroball: You are on a trampoline and you try to throw a ball into a net.
Circus skills: Which were on the field and you got to perform circus skills.
So I had a really good time at Kingswood and I will never forget the fun I had!!

Here the heart’s pumping and the adrenaline’s pounding for adventure. Abseiling is quite hard for a beginner. The gear is hard to get on by yourself but the chest harness is easy to get on. As you get to the top you get harnessed in. Then you get in the toilet position and walk down the wall.

I really enjoyed den building in our team was Me, Sian, Beth, Chloe, Emma and Miss Gibson .
In the other team there was Andy, Mikey, Kyle, Josh and Sam. Andy told the girls they’d won, but the boys said they’d won. So I’m not really sure who won.
I enjoyed Singstar it was really funny because Rory the man who did it with
us kept singing to Molly, Mikey and Sean Woods. Everybody was laughing and he kept asking us why we were laughing at him.
I didn’t enjoy Abseiling at all because I’m terrified of heights. I got to the top of the wall then started crying because I was so scared. So Dave and Maria tried
to make me feel better and have a go but I just couldn’t do it.
I really enjoyed Aeroball but some how I got really muddy when I was inside a tent. It was really fun, every time I threw the ball it hit the top of the tent and a load of water would fall down and wet Kyle .
I think Scrapheap was one of the best actives it was really fun. My favourite part was when we had to make the outfits our model was Brooke. I thought Brooke looked great !!!
The disco was really fun everyone danced at least once.

What I liked
I really enjoyed doing achery because I got two arrows in the yellow part of the target.
I also enjoyed doing aeroball because I love trampolining.
Circus skills was great too because I can spin a plate and juggle two balls in one hand.
Alnwick Castle was fabtastic.
When we went to Hadrian’s Wall my legs were shaking when we climbed up that mountain.
I also enjoyed doing abseiling and zip wire and nightline they were fun things to do.
What I disliked
There wasn’t a single thing I didn’t enjoy!!!
By Emma

Anna:I liked the Leap of Faith because I liked the climbing and jumping off the pole. But I thought it was scary because when you looked down from the top it looked like you were going to fall off.
Ellie : I didn’t like the Leap of Faith because it was so high that Mr Hewer and the rest of the team looked like ants !!! But I did it because the instructor Rory told me to say I AM NOT A BENCH WARMER!!!!
Anna:I liked the Rock Climbing because I got to the top and I
got two goes! But I thought it was scary because I am not fussed on heights.
Ellie: Rock Climbing was boss . There was a mouldy cheese, spicy cheese and a mild cheese .I climbed up the mouldy. I got to the top and did the loudest KISS in the group AND the people on Jacobs ladder heard me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (and that was far away ! )

1. It may not sound fun making beds, but with Jack C, it is hilarious (he is not very successful!)
2.We had lots of fun on the night time activities. Then finishing off the day with a hot cup of hot chocolate.
3.The food was also successful, having a wide variety of meals.
4. Alnwick Castle was a great experience. We were there for the whole day. We had lots of fun!
5. Hadrian’s wall is 50 miles long, first we had to climb a hill. Of course we didn’t walk 50 miles!
6. On Wednesday we began on high activities -which some people thought were off putting!!!
7. We enjoyed working in our groups. We were all helping and supporting each other.
8. We enjoyed getting educated through fun and enjoyment!
9. We enjoyed staying with each other in our room, having laugh with our mates!
10. We enjoyed having people staying in our room over-night, e.g. Sean and Josh!!!

My favourite activity was Jacobs ladder because I was going hypo since Abbey pushed me off the bench. I was really mad and was not going to calm down.
I was rolling around in the mud and falling off the bench all of the time or should I say being pushed off the bench! I could not fall down, everyone was saying it was my fault for having a wham bar. Meanwhile other people were climbing up Jacobs ladder and got really far.
Then it was my turn I climbed to the fourth log, I could have gone further but I couldn’t stop laughing so I lost all the energy I had before hand.
My favourite instructors were:
*Lucy *Jo *Maria *John
*Rory *Kate
*Kyle *Andy
*Laura *The Rev
Other favourite activities:
*Leap of faith
*Aero ball
*Nightline
*Quads
*Problem solving
and lots of other activities
I really enjoyed the whole holiday it was …. GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quad bikes was probably the best thing I did because you got to go fast and you get to drift. The funniest instructors were Maria, Rory and Kyle. The leap of faith is so scary your heart leaps out and your skin gets goosebumps. Archery was funny because we made bets like Beth had to hug Josh if I hit any ring. Nightline was funny because I was the leader and Miss got us to crawl in the mud.Yuk!!
Dinner times were good because you got loads of tasty food and it was delicious. Hmmmmm!!!It kept you going all through the day and it gave you strength for all your activities.
Hadrian’s wall was great because we had to climb up to get to it. Before we went there we went to the castle where Harry Potter was filmed. The castle was exciting even though we didn’t go inside. It wasn’t the same as it was in the films because it doesn’t have all the props.
Thursday night was the disco where all the schools gathered in one big hall.

My favourite part about the holiday was when we went to see Hadrian’s Wall on Tuesday. When we were about to climb up to the top of the hill we had to get in a line and I was behind Jack Mc, Matty and Liam. When we were near the top, I kept looking down at the hill and we were so high up. When we reached the top we were right next to the wall. I looked down the other side of the wall and then I realized that my head and my hands were in Scotland while the other half of my body was in England.
When we were coming back down it was so funny with the boys but one things for sure is that I had a . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

One of my favourite days was when we went to Alnwick castle, we met Harry Potter and he did a magic show for us. After that we went on a walk up Hadrian wall, it was really high especially when you got to the top.
These are my top 5 activities that I enjoyed the most!
The first and probably the best activity was the LEAP OF FAITH because I was about to not do it however Mr Hewer, Miss Blackham, Miss Gibson and all of my group encouraged me to do it.. In the end I did it I was so frightened that i started to cry. The Leap of Faith is one of the most scary things that I have ever done in my life!
I also enjoyed Jacobs Ladder, my target was the third step despite I am scared of heights I did it (I only got to the third step though). You had to work in partners like you were in a team so I worked with Penny. Penny got on the fourth one and was trying to pull me up to were she was but i was too scared. As you would get higher the gaps would get longer the next step was harder to reach for.
The climbing wall was really fun because I could not stop shaking, I was so scared. Every time I am scared I always shake as if I am cold. The climbing wall was 40 foot high and I only wanted to go halfway, outstandingly for me I managed to reach ¾ of the way. I could not go any further after that.
Abseiling was really fun, it was on the same wall as the climbing wall so it was the same size. Our instructor was telling me to look at him and lean backwards. I really didn’t want to though. In the end I did it and I am so glad that I did because I loved it!
Zip wire was boss, its one of the best activities on the site. You just had to jump off the platform and you didn’t even sit on anything like a normal zip wire would be like. It was like flying through the air. On the way back you got pulled up by a wire and you could put your arms and legs out pretending to fly!
Our main instructors were called Kyle, Maria and Rory, they helped us in all of the activities!
I loved KINGSWOOD!!!!
By Brooke

My favourite activity was Den building. What you had to do for Den building was collect scrap from around the area, then find somewhere to build your den. When you have done them two things you can start to build your den. I built a wigwam den made out of wooden logs and all different kinds of materials.
Our den could fit all five of us in it. But it wasn’t waterproof.
Kingswood was a great experience for me.

Night Entertainment
First we had Hotspots, on Monday we had Scrap, and on Tuesday Sing star, Wednesday we had Mini Os, and on Thursday we had a Disco.
Hotspots is a giant twister with all sorts of games to play. One game is statues and at the end 3 people kissed me. It was Abbey,Emily B and Meg D – disgusting!!!
Scrap is - you need to go out to the front and do your best at silly stuff and bring back cardboard and that at the end you have 2 minutes to make a casing to secure a water glove and you pick which leader to soak.
Singstar is a ps2 game you pick a song and sing along to it and you get a score at the end.
Mini os is a mini olympics you get split in to 4 different teams and do races and stuff like a caterpillar it is good.
And our last entertainment was a disco, 3 other schools were there as well. Kyle our instructor was going mad flipping like crazy.
The night entertainment was boss it really kept me entertained. I want to thank them for their time at Kingswood - I really appreciate it.
KINGSWOOD ROCKS !!!

OUR FUN
QUADS - We both thought that the quad bikes were really fun. It was funny getting on all the safety gear though!!!!
AEROBALL - Aeroball was amazing altogether we got 14 goals. At the end it was funny trying to get each other out!!!!
CIRCUS SKILLS - We both agreed that circus skills was good but wasn’t the best activity, we thought that diablo was CLASS!!!!
LAZER - Lazer was simply muddy fun. The only doubt was that you never got the scores at the end, it was funny shooting Mr Hewer though because he could not move because he was trapped!!!!!
DISCO - The disco was just basic fun we all had a brilliant time!!!!!!!!!!

On Monday we did Lazer and our aim was to shoot the opposite teams sensor at the front and sides of the gun. We really enjoyed it, it was a very muddy activity!
On Thursday we did the Leap of Faith which should have been called the Leap of DEATH! You had to climb a thin wooden pole which wobbled when you climb up it and then you had to jump on to the trapeze. It was really scary !
Thursday, we did Zip wire and it was fantastic, we loved it! But at the start it was a bit nerve wrecking because it felt as if when you jumped you were going to fall!!!!!!!
Thursday night we had a Disco and it was BRILLIANT! Every one was singing and dancing to the music and the atmosphere was crazy !

On the 6th of April me and the rest of year 6 went on a adventure week holiday to Kingswood. My favourite activities were:
Lazer: When you get a gun and have to shoot your other friends.
Leap of faith: Where you climb up a big tall pole until you get to a small platform and then jump off.
Night line: You are blind folded and have to work in a team to get through a muddy course going in and out of obstacles.
On the 8th of April we went to Alnwick Castle where Harry Potter 1+2 were made. When we got to the castle there was an outstanding treehouse with a gigantic play area. We had lunch in a flower garden right outside Alnwick Castle. When we finished we got a tour of the castle where the guide told us everything we needed to know.

My favourite activity was the LEAP OF FAITH because it was really exciting but it was a bit scary when you looked down from the top.
Firstly you where given a harness and helmet to put on.
Secondly you had to climb up a wooden pole until you reached a small wooden platform, when I climbed up the pole it started to wobble.
After you had stood on the platform you jumped onto a trapeze and swung in the air for a couple of seconds before you got lowered down. Rory our instructor asked us if we wanted to be lowered down fast or slow!!! I really enjoyed the leap of faith and I wish I could do it again. I would give it a rating of 10 out of 10.

I really enjoyed the den building because it was fun and the teacher was very nice, she was called Sarah. In my group there was me, Molly, Anneli, Penny, Megan C and also Sarah. I thought we worked very well as a team.
I liked Lazer the best because it was fun and funny. When we were playing it, it started to hail stone. When I was running I got my shoe stuck in the mud and lost it. When the game was over I was all muddy it was horrible.
We also did quads , Archery, Aeroball, and Scrap all of these things were very good.
One day we went to Alnwick Castle and met Harry Potter and then we went into this haunted house with skeletons in it. We also did the zip line which was very scary because it was very very very high.
We also did circus skills which was fun but I very, very nearly hurt Brooke and Penny when I was doing my big finale.
Oh! We also did the Leap of Faith which was very, very scary because when I was climbing up the pole I was shaking like mad.

Last week we felt everyone in the class was a winner. This week we went back to our usual nomination slips - most however were for holiday work.
This week’s proud winner of the Rory Award, for super work about Kingswood is Melissa P. Congratulation and well done!!!
Dear Year 6 and parents,
Many thanks for your kind messages and gifts. It was very generous of you but really quite unnecessary. We had a fantastic time and were extremely proud of all of the children. They were a pleasure to be with.Their behaviour was excellent and they really supported each other as they faced each challenge.
They have all got precious memories of their holiday and what they achieved. Most of the class reckon there was only one thing they’d change - their early morning call!!! Apparently they don’t appreciate Mr ??????’s singing (they don’t think much of the backing group either.)
Thank you to everyone who left a comment on the blog. It was lovely to hear from you. It’s hard to believe that this time last week we were doing ‘The Leap of Faith’ and thinking about the disco!!!!!!
The children have produced some super work - we’ll try and get some on the blog, and have also written some lovely cards and letters to send to the Kingswood staff. Mr Hewer is busy sorting out some more photographs (we’ve got hundreds!).
……. of driving everyone up the wall was especially useful yesterday because everyone in the whole group got to the top of the Climbing Wall! Well done Miss Gibson. Green Park knew that it would, one day, come in useful!!
Today is the Zip Line, the Leap of Faith, Nightline, Circus, Fencing!! (watch out Mr Hewer!) a bit of Science and………………………..Miss Blackham’s favourite ………the DISCO!! She has got Mrs Dickson to send, the special parcel delivery, her best disco gear!
While the chidren can’t get to the internet to see all the comments that have been sent, the staf at Kingswood have been printing them off so that they are able to read what has been sent. Mr Hewer said that the children were delighted to see the lovely messages.
The day after the epic Liverpool Arsenal match, which Liverpool won 5 - 3 on aggregate (Moscow gets that little bit closer - I can feel a bad dose of flu coming on!!), the children had a busy day at Kingswood which ended with a mini olympics. Miss Blackham sent some photographs (twice - the first lot didn’t arrive but the message did!) Here they are …… I think Sean and his friends won the gold medal for the best branches in the world event!
…………………because she comes from London and supports Arsenal but from the next couple of photographs show Y6 having a pretty good time doing their activities.
Once the adventurers return from their travels to faraway land they will bring with them a bucketful of photographs. Putting photographs on the blog is probably the most time consuming activity involved in blogging so please be patient.
The comments that have been sent in have been brilliant and very welcomed. Before they are published on the blog they have to be “moderated” (checked that they don’t contain any defamatory or abusive language, not edited) which means they don’t always appear instantly on the blog. We try to keep as update as possible but sometimes it may be an hour or two before they are published.
